How I got started in experience design
It was the natural nexus between my love for visual design and digital product development...
I've been a visual artist and designer my entire life. In 2014, a desire to build a web tool for artists led me to learn web development.
While working remotely for a startup as a backend developer, I started gravitating toward user experience design.
What I love most about UX
Interaction Design!

It surprised me — initially I thought I'd be most drawn to UI Design.
But it's the inception — the exploratory early phase of sketching out and piecing together what a product should do and be — that is most exciting to me.
What else I'm about
I paint. I've been exhibiting and selling my work in oil and pastel all since 2003. See my work at scotthalefineart.com.

I teach. I began teaching pastel painting in 2013 and actively teach through an online course at thepastelschool.com.

I water. I'm an avid fly fisherman, fledgling bodyboarder, and kayaker. I swim laps. I survived a harrowing canoeing accident as a boy, and remain captivated by water.
I'm Scott Hale. Nice to meet you!
Bad product experiences have always bothered me... and in those instances, I invariably found myself trying to imagine a better way.
It's a big part of why I do experience design.
